iglo hotels in Finland

Glass iglu and aurora cabins are arguably the most exclusive, most enjoyable lodging experiences in Finland. Even the idea of sleeping in a glass ball in the middle of a deserted forest is something that excites you. When you get the chance to watch the northern lights from your bed, it turns into a fantasy. 😀

Watching the Northern Lights from a glass igloo – Glass igloo and aurora cabins are also the most comfortable way to watch the northern lights. In places and periods when the lights are good, the weather can drop down to -25/-35 degrees at night. As a matter of fact, you may have a hard time standing outside to watch. Since there is no movement while watching, the frostbite bites and bites. Many times you find yourself in a dilemma between watching the lights and warming up your freezing hands and feet. In general, people throw the ball in 2 hours. Therefore, there is nothing like watching the northern lights from the comfort of your soft bed through a warm glass igloo.

There are about 30 glass iglu hotels in Finland and their number continues to increase day by day in line with the increasing demand. Some have astonishing prices and ultra-luxurious amenities, while others are more modest options. Prices vary according to your expectations, comfort needs and budget. We will talk about all of them below. But here are the things to consider when holding a glass igloo:

Budget

After long research, we found that Finnish Lapland is the most logical place to tour the northern lights and stay in a glass igloo. It provides a significant price advantage compared to places such as Sweden and Norway, and it has very good spots to see the lights.

Choose Hotels in Areas with Higher Chance of Seeing the Northern Lights

The biggest motivation in keeping glass igloos is, of course, to be able to watch the northern lights from inside. But unfortunately the lights don't come out every day and they don't look the same from everywhere. So you are actually rolling the dice. It is necessary to try to roll a dice with a higher probability of holding.

Finnish igloos and aurora cabins are clustered in Rovaniemi, Saariselka, Levi, Inari regions. But in some places you are less likely to see the northern lights. Since it is an expensive accommodation, our recommendation is to increase your chances by making such an investment in areas where you are more likely to see the northern lights. In Finland, we recommend focusing on places north of the Saariselka settlement. Especially the places around Inari Lake are good places in terms of nature and the possibility of seeing the northern lights. But remember that this is luck again, there is no guarantee that it will come out.

There are many glass igloo and aurora cabin options around Rovaniemi, but unfortunately Rovaniemi is a less likely place. For this reason, if you can't just go to the north, we say consider Rovaniemi.

We strongly recommend that you also read our Northern Lights Guide, which contains invaluable information to maximize your chances of seeing the northern lights.
